The humble giant panda has been widely located around Southern & Eastern China, Burma, North Vietnam, and other places. With modernization and city developments, natural habitats continue to suffer from human destruction. A report in September 2016 showed that there are only 1864 adult pandas and 2060 pups remaining.

The Chinese government took effect in recent years through the establishment of Panda Nature Reserve. resulting in an increase in the number of wild pandas. Pandas have also been affected by illegal hunting and the global climate change causing bamboos to become scarce. The conservational work still requires much more undertaking. Designer Steve Chan hopes that through this panda design, it could draw awareness to the public about the giant panda conservation related issues.
