At the end of 2024, Steve accepted a commission to design a series of merchandise for the special exhibition “The Ice Age Exhibition: The World Humans Saw 40,000 Years Ago” at Japan’s National Museum of Nature and Science. The exhibition, co-organized by the National Museum of Nature and Science and TBS Television, focuses on the megafauna of the Ice Age. It first opened at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno Park, Tokyo, showcasing the giant animals of Europe 40,000 years ago and how Homo sapiens survived in extreme cold.

After much consideration, Steve ultimately chose the most iconic animal of the era—the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius)—as the central theme. The design process was full of challenges, especially in interpreting and rendering those long, dramatically curved tusks; He poured a huge amount of time and effort into them. After exploring numerous concepts, the final pieces were completed, and he truly hope everyone loves this new design!
